VOLKSWAGEN MODELS
VOLKSWAGEN MODELS WE SERVICE
From a high-mileage Jetta to a late-model Atlas, these are the Volkswagens we work on every week. Don't see yours? Call and ask.
Why Your Volkswagen Needs a Specialist
Volkswagens are built to tight specs, and many repairs need VW's own software to finish the job. A basic code reader can show a fault. It can't code a new part or reset your service reminder.

Common Volkswagen Problems We Fix
Here are the Volkswagen problems we see most often, what you'll notice first, and what we do about each one.

Engine Rattle and Rough Running
Rattle on a cold start. A rattle for a few seconds when you start the car first thing in the morning, or a check engine light. On 2008 to 2014 VWs with the 2.0 turbo, like the GTI, Jetta, CC and Beetle, the part that keeps the timing chain tight can wear out. If the chain slips, it can ruin the engine. We inspect it and replace the chain parts if they're worn.
Rough idle that gets worse. A shaky idle on cold starts, misfire warnings and worse gas mileage that creep up over time, often by 60,000 to 70,000 miles. On VW turbo engines, carbon slowly builds up inside the engine where fuel can't wash it away. We take apart the top of the engine and clean it out by hand.

Water Pumps and Coolant Leaks
Coolant leaks. A low coolant warning, a sweet smell, or pink fluid under the car. The water pump on many 2015 to 2020 VWs, including the Golf, GTI, Tiguan, Atlas and Arteon, tends to start leaking early. We replace the water pump and the housing next to it, then refill with the coolant VW calls for.
Atlas coolant warnings. Low coolant warnings that come back more and more often, and pink puddles where you park, on 2018 to 2023 Atlas models. If it runs low, the engine can overheat. We test the whole cooling system first, so you only pay for the parts that are actually bad.

Rough Shifting
Skipped transmission service. The automatic in the GTI, Jetta GLI, Golf R and other VWs needs fresh fluid and a filter about every 40,000 miles, and that service often gets skipped. Old fluid wears out the transmission faster. We do the fluid service on the schedule for your model.
Clunky shifts or a shudder. Clunky shifts, a shudder after a highway drive, or a slow start from a stop. The computer that controls the transmission can fail. Sometimes a software update fixes it, and sometimes the part has to be replaced. We test it with VW's own software and repair the transmission before replacing anything big.
