Common Mazda Problems We Fix
Here are the Mazda problems we see most often, what you'll notice first, and what we do about each one.
Leaks, Misfires and Oil Use
Leaks and misfires. Oil or coolant leaks, misfires, or a shaky engine on 2018 to 2021 CX-5 and Mazda6, 2019 to 2021 Mazda3 and 2020 to 2021 CX-30 models with the 2.5-liter. Mazda has updated parts for this. We test how well the engine holds pressure and find the cause before quoting a repair.
Using oil on the turbo. A low oil light between oil changes on the CX-5 and CX-30 Turbo. Worn parts in the top of the engine can let oil burn off. We check the oil and tell you how much your engine is using.
Coolant Leaks and Misfires
Coolant smell or warning. A coolant smell, a low coolant warning, or green crust at the back of the engine on 2016 to 2020 CX-9 and on turbo CX-5 and Mazda6 models. We test the cooling system before any parts are replaced, and we'll help you check if Mazda covers it.
Rough running and a flashing light. Rough running and a flashing check engine light on higher-mileage 2014 to 2018 Mazda3 models. Worn spark plug coils and carbon inside the engine are the usual causes. We read the check engine codes and fix the cause.
Electrical and Suspension
Frozen screen or wipers acting up. The touchscreen stops responding or restarts on its own, or the wipers act up, on 2014 to 2018 Mazda3 models. We trace the electrical problem before replacing the screen.
Clunks and humming. Clunks over bumps or a hum that rises with speed on higher-mileage 2014 to 2018 Mazda3 models. Rear springs, shocks and wheel bearings wear out. We inspect all four corners and replace only what's worn.
